Maria Maarbjerg
Maria Maarbjerg is a Danish-born visual artist based in Dublin, working with photography and text to explore the intersections of identity, belonging, and change. My work examines how personal and collective narratives unfold within larger societal shifts, often focusing on the quiet, unspoken moments that shape human experience.

Biography
Maria Maarbjerg projects often return to ideas of place and memory, questioning what it means to belong in a time when cultural and national identities are constantly shifting. In solo exhibitions such as Ode to Changes (RHA, 2021) and Extended Play (Studio 1 in Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, 2023), I’ve sought to create immersive visual essays that respond to these themes. My work has also been recognised with awards and residencies, including the Fire Station Residential Studio Award, We Only Want the Earth Studio Residency in A4 Sounds Studio and support from the Arts Council. Currently, Maarbjerg is a studio artist at The Complex, Dublin, where I am developing new work for a solo exhibition, Long Play, in 2025.
